Родился в Courbevoie маленького испанского дворянства Севилья (Seville), португальской в аристократической семье. Его отец Хизпан Карлос де Фюнес де Галарза (Hiszpan Carlos de Funes de Galarza) был юристом. 22 сентября 1943 года де Фюнес женился на внучке Ги де Мопассана - Жанне Бартоламе (Jeanne Barthelemy de Maupassant). После себя он оставил двух сыновей: Оливер де Фюнес (Olivier de Funes), по профессии летчик-пилот авикомпании "Эр Франс", и Патрик де Фюнес (Patrick De Funes), по профессии врач.
