Worldwide broadcasts of the MotoGP World Championship continued apace in 2003, with a massive total of over 5,105 million spectators throughout the 16-event season, equalling an average of 319 million viewers watching the coverage of each Grand

Prix.

The most significant data at the end of 2003 is the increase in the number of viewers for the live broadcasts, up to an average of 138 million over the 185 countries who receive the live signal.

Once again the number of broadcast hours in the year, considering the different broadcast formats (live, highlights, news, features, etc) also underwent a significant rise, with 208 countries showing MotoGP over a total of 3,586 hours, an increase of 166 hours on 2002.

Live or same day transmissions of each Grand Prix were broadcast over more than 40 networks at each event, through major stations across the world. New additions to the list in 2003 were BBC (United Kingdom), RTL (Germany), RTE (Ireland), RTL Club (Belgium), ATV+ (Austria) and Channel Four (Finland), on top of the existing major networks such as Ten and Fox (Australia), NHK and NTV (Japan), France TV (France), Mediaset (Italy), TVE (Spain), Globo(Brazil), M-Net (South Africa), Speed TV (USA

and Canada) and Center TV (Russia).

Pan-continental coverage was once again offered across Europe (Eurosport), Asia-Pacific (ESPN-Star), Africa (SuperSport) and America (ESPN-Latinamerica and ESPN-2), with footage fed to some 239 million homes across the globe via cable or satellite.
